Interesting in exploring your call to cross-cultural service? Intrigued by the land of the Bible? Wanting to receive training in how to minister in diverse religious contexts?
Then check out the JGP internship program! Here’s what our internship program offers, so if you’re interested, drop us a line or give us a call.
Preparation: Our commitment to our interns begins before they even arrive on the field. We want to be a resource for helping you to raise your support, and prepare yourself mentally, emotionally, and spiritually before you arrive on the field. We’ll want to to introduce you to some of the features of the region through some short readings and discussing them before you come.
Location: Our partners live and minister in several cities throughout the Middle East, so depending on your interests, you can live among Jews, Arabs, and have the opportunity to be involved in ministry among both groups.
Language: Ministry flows through relationships, and since language is the gateway to relationships, we expect all interns to spend time learning how to communicate in their host language, whether that is Hebrew or Arabic.
Life: One of the more daunting, but exciting aspects of an internship is the opportunity to live in a new place and experience a new culture. As part of the internship program, we’ve developed a series of activities for you to be involved in that will help acclimate you to the new culture as well as begin to think about how the new culture differs from your own.
Ministry: What ministry you’re involved in will depend on your gifts and interests, but here are some of the possibilities: teaching English as a second language, serving at a women’s center, helping with a church youth group or kids’ program, helping with our business development projects, sports or music outreach, and others that we’d love to talk to you about personally. We’re committed to discussing with you regularly the ministry you’re involved in to help you reflect on how God is shaping you through that experience.
Mentorship: One of the key aspects of the JGP internship program is mentoring from our partners on the field. Our mentorship focuses on two areas: spiritual and ministry development. We’ll study the Bible together, pray together, read helpful material together, and reflect together on how God is working in the Middle East.
